"Early Spring"

Val Pointed out these blooming flowers to me during our hike through the mountains and they made for a great photo. It's a nice desktop to give you something to look forward to with the coming spring and also could represent changes ahead and a fresh start after this chilly winter.

"Spring 2 Go"

The hot springs mentioned in the desktop below also had a spot where you could fill your water bottles with water from the spring which was rich in all sorts of minerals. This photo was taken while we filled up a jug of water. It might look like cool water but it was steaming hot. It had to sit out in the cold air overnight before we drank it.

"Hot Spring"

I had the chance to laze about in a natural, fresh water hot spring for an hour and it was soooooo very nice. I had trouble staying awake while inside. Val had this neat trick where she would rest her hands just barely atop the waters surface which I thought made for a really beautiful photo and here it is in all of its fresh blue glory.

"Rust"

I have posted plenty of images of the trees hanging from the edge of a rocky cliff today so what about the cliff itself? It had a really cool looking rust color to it and it held all sorts of jagged edges and cracks that made it a really fun rock to shoot. Here is a shot that seemed to make for a nice desktop.

"Evergreen"

Here is my favorite shot of some small pine trees which were growing out off of a rocky cliff on Lovers Leap in the mountains of NC. I really like the flow of this image here as a whole. If you wanted to read into it a bit you could pull up thoughts of surviving what with the fact that this poor tree looks to have been through quite a few rough winters up on the cliffs edge. I just found this image to be really peaceful and I am happy to share it with all of you. Enjoy!

"Appalachian"

So while I was out roaming the mountains of NC with Val I had the chance to take on a whopping MILE of the Appalachian Trail. It was straight up the side of a mountain and it lead us to this fork in the path which had this really cool looking Train marker. I know there must be some people out there who would appreciate this as their desktop so this one's for you!

"Fungus"

Well well, what do we have here... I'm not so sure myself what this stuff is called. It's some sort of fungus and it was growing up the side of a trees trunk and I thought it would make for a nice photo and so here it is in all its frozen goodness.

"Magnolia"

This is a kind of sort of flower here only I'm really not to sure that it was in fact a flower. I think that these are little seed pods but I'm not sure really. I really liked them though and here is a nice photo of them. I'm thinking I should have tightened up the aperture on this shot but I like it anyways, the bits of flower that are in focus are really sharp and when its nice and big across your desktop you could all but reach into your screen and step right on into the photo. Right, I'm just writing to write here at this point. Enjoy the top!

"Pine"

Out on the edge of a rocky cliff this tree was hanging out full of pine cones and it asked me to take a bunch of photos of it so I did just that. Here is one that I thought made a fitting desktop what with its simplicity and Subtleness and whatnot.

Here is some more soft looking mossy stuff which has a really strange tint in this photo. Very very green but a bit heavy on the red as well. Download now and impress your friends with your furry computer screen!

"Yesterday"

This huge log covered in moss was just sitting there begging to be shot so I pulled around the camera and fired away. Well this one shot at least. I wish that that first branch was in focus but what can you do right? its still a nice shot I think. All cozy and green. That should teach me to make sure to take more than one shot of something I like. Still, its a nice shot though, no?

"East"

Although the focus on this shot is not perfect by any means, I decided to post it anyways because I thought it made for a pretty nice desktop. Like some odd wooden finger poking out into the landscape. I called this East because it is pointing east. Enjoy.

"Iron" and "Iron Two"

I love trains. I love the sound they make as they pass by in the distance and I am fascinated by the idea that they are bound to the track on which they are set onto, destined to follow these set paths though it's existence. Here we have a couple shots of some rusty old tracks long out of service and overgrown with weeds. I prefer the first of these two shots myself but I also like the simplicity of the second one which is always nice when it comes to desktops which is why I posted that one as well.

"Ram" and "Ram Two"

Here we have two different views of a hood ornament on an old rusty truck. Something about the little sculpture struck me as interesting, mostly it's overbearing horns and the fact that you never see hood ornaments anymore, especially not this detailed.

"Awake"

I called this awake because it seems to have that type of effect that happens as you open your eyes after having them closed for a long period of time or after being somewhere really dark then suddenly being in a brightly lit area. Photography is so funny in the way that it wont allow you to expose both extreme light and darkly lit areas. Its a challenge that leads to what some consider a bad photo if it is looked at by someone who, for instance, wishes the person in this photo was in focus and may not understand what the point of this photo is. It is also what separates someone with knowledge of how to use this photographic puzzle to their advantage by exposing for a given effect such as this image where I chose to have the brightness of the outside world shine brightly from behind the inside of the garage. If I had let the camera expose the shot the photo would have been nearly completely black but the person in the distance would have most likely been the focus and the image would not have nearly as much depth as it does here.

At any rate, sorry for over analyzing the photo this time around, hope you enjoy the desktop!

"Red"

This photo feels kind of empty both physically and emotionally what with the lack of a bulb in this busted looking light fixture as if to say there will be no light beyond twighlight. The old dried up piece of vine seems to drive this feeling to another level if you care to look that far into this lonely desktop. Sill a nice image for a desktop though. Not to districting that is.

"Empty"

So this is a departure from what other things I've done here on the site recently. I started messing around with a photo from when I was up in NYC a few weeks back and used a technique that I used to love to play around with which is the bottom of the image and is a pretty slick and easy way to make some really dramatic imagery. Then came some messing around with the color and a nice Puerto Rico sky to top it off. Let me know what you think and maybe I will do more of this type of thing around here.

"Cardinal"

This is a desktop featuring one of my favorite two new mics, the Cardinal and the Raven. The one pictured here is the Cardinal and was developed by Blue mics and made by EV in a partnership. I hope that this marks the beginning of some new activity in EV's mic line. They could use a nice boost there because at the moment they seem to be riding the old RE(PL)20's for all their worth. So anyways, this is an amazing Vocal mic but also works beautifully for other things like acoustic guitar and just look at how gorgeous the design of the thing is, its a work of art! This desktop has two watermarks there because it is a promotional desktop for the mic that I made. I know its not going to mean to much to the average visitor to this site but I thought I would post it anyways. Enjoy!
